We were honored to receive five awards for residential remodels completed in 2017 at the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Harrisburg (HBA) Pyramid Awards event held at Hollywood Casino on Friday, April 20, 2018. The annual awards event honors HBA members for notable accomplishments in the industry in the past year. Excel received awards for Best Kitchen $100,000-$199,000; Best Kitchen $70,000-$99,000; Best Kitchen $60,000-$69,000; Best Bath Over $80,000; and Best Craftsmanship.

Since 1970, we’ve worked with area families to update and upgrade the appearance and functionality of their homes. Jim Mirando, President of Excel, shared “We are honored to receive these awards. We have an experienced and qualified team whose goal is to always provide clients with a convenient and pleasant remodeling experience while delivering exceptional design and value.”

Below is a list of Excel’s awards with links to see before and after pictures of the projects!

1. Best Kitchen $100,000-$199,000

A Kitchen with a View

This Camp Hill kitchen in The Cliffs was reconfigured and expanded to make the most of the beautiful views outside overlooking the Yellow Breeches Creek. New flooring, cabinetry, a contrasting color center island, and a free-standing corner island for seating were all added. The gorgeous and unique granite of the counter tops highlights the organic beauty all around, and the new layout provides an unobstructed sightline to the outdoors and floods the space with natural light. The step-down space just off the kitchen provides family and visitors with a comfortable lounging area to enjoy the beautiful views. See before & after project photos!

2. Best Kitchen $70,000- $99,000

A Stunning First Floor Remodel

The first floor of this New Cumberland family home got a complete makeover to lighten and brighten the kitchen, add functional prep space and storage, and overhaul the dated fireplace façade. The resulting look features a current, yet timeless style and appeal. In addition to updating the overall look, one of the client’s main goals was to expand the prep space in the narrow kitchen beyond the original, small center island. The new design features additional black quartz-topped counter space and a long quartz-topped island with an attached dining table. The island works very effectively in the ample, yet narrow space. The attached dining table maximizes the flow of the space and invites people to sit down and enjoy everyone’s favorite place to be – the kitchen! See before & after project photos.

3. Best Kitchen $60,000-$69,000

A Total Transformation

This original Harrisburg kitchen was dated and cramped, so Excel removed the walls to open it up, and replaced the flooring, cabinetry, most of the appliances and lighting to completely transform the space. Now there is a natural flow throughout the first floor, and the kitchen opens right into the dining area, as well as stepping down into the living room. The custom cabinetry gives the homeowners lots of surface space for prepping and serving; and the remodel effectively maximized and modernized the client’s kitchen and entire first floor. See before & after project photos!

4. Best Bath Over $80,000

A Master Suite Remodel

A master bath should be a sanctuary – a place to relax and escape. This master bath remodel in Hummelstown was a transformation, complete with a stand-alone soaking tub and glass-enclosed walk-in luxury shower with a hand-held showerhead and an overhead, rain shower faucet head. The design is high-end and soothing, with pale blue painted walls and a custom stained-glass window feature. Thoughtfully designed cabinetry makes efficient use of the space and provides ample and convenient his and hers storage. See before & after project photos!

5. Best Craftsmanship

Remodeled Modern Staircase

Excel was recognized with an award for best craftsmanship for a remodeled staircase for a Mechanicsburg client. The homeowners wanted to remodel their multi-level staircase for both structural safety and style purposes, so we designed and installed sleek, custom wooden treads with custom-fabricated stainless steel supports and banisters.
