Excel Remodeling Earns NKBA Awards

Excel Remodeling Earns NKBA AwardsLemoyne-based Excel Remodeling earned four 2023 Design Awards, presented by NKBA Susquehanna Valley Chapter during an awards ceremony held November 9 at The Englewood in Hummelstown.  Excel Remodeling received awards in the following categories:

  • Utility Space: 2nd Place – Blue and White Laundry Room – This family desired a larger, more functional laundry room with an upgraded look, and more storage room. Limited available space presented a challenge. Excel Remodeling delivered on the family’s needs by expanding the laundry room into a nearby coat closet and adding cabinetry, a custom-built platform for the front-loading appliances, quartzite countertop and backsplash, and new tile flooring. Decorative hardware for the cabinets, in addition to decorative and efficient lighting brightened up the room for improved function and aesthetics.
  • Primary Bath: 2nd Place – White and Gray Primary Bath – Creating a more functional and attractive bathroom that serves the homeowners as they advance in age was the primary goal of this bathroom remodel. This was accomplished with a large walk-in shower, in addition to a free-standing bathtub, and a separate room for the toilet, which was accomplished by relocating the toilet to an old linen closet. Additional lighting and incorporating natural materials in the gray and white scale added an air of elegance while achieving a uniform design throughout the space.
  • Primary Bath: 3rd Place – Primary Bath and Closet – Creating a primary suite bathroom was the goal of this remodeling project. We overcame the challenge of limited space by expanding the footprint of the space into the bedroom, creating a combination walk-in closet and hallway to the primary bathroom. The new bathroom features a large shower, freestanding tub, and double vanity. A barn door separating the bedroom and pocket doors closing off the primary bath create privacy without taking much-needed space. Accents throughout the fixtures, lights, and accessories add personality and color to the space. This previously small bathroom was completely transformed into a much larger and more luxurious primary bath.
  • Recreation Space: 3rd Place – Cozy Sky Chalet: This addition started with the homeowner’s vision of a family room with enough space and ceiling clearance for a 12-foot-tall Christmas tree to celebrate their growing family gathered for the holidays! The couple also envisioned a cozy space for themselves with a fireplace and a ski chalet esthetic. This extensive remodel includes an outdoor, covered cedar deck and large windows in the family room overlooking the new outdoor living space and backyard, all of which seamlessly flow from the original home. The high ceiling with wooden beams adds even more space and character to the room, and all the windows let in natural light and provide views of the beautiful covered outdoor space, the pool, and lawn.
