In January, Excel Design Team Member Brian Miller attended the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in Orlando, Florida. The three-day expo featured 600 vendors and displays, as well as industry-related workshops and networking opportunities. More than one in ten homeowners will undertake a kitchen or bath project this year, so the show is a great place to see and learn about the latest products and industry advancements. If you’re one of those homeowners thinking about a project this year, here are a few design ideas from the show that you might want to consider:
More color options for faucets and handles – following the trend in jewelry, there is more mixing of metals and matte and shiny finishes. Not having all finishes match throughout a home brings added personality and visual interest, so don’t feel locked in to one finish just because that may be featured elsewhere in your home. Your choice in finishes can also complement the overall style you are hoping to achieve – gold or rose-gold fixtures can add warmth and style to a room, while matte black finishes can bring a more rustic or modern feel to a space.
Upgraded kitchen sinks in quartz and composite materials – extending the trend of quartz and composites being used on kitchen countertops, kitchen sinks are now being featured in the same choice of materials. The engineering of these materials adds superior scratch, impact and heat resistance to your sink, certainly an area of heavy usage in your kitchen.
LED-integrated mirrors in bathrooms – high efficiency LED lights are now being incorporated right into bathroom mirrors for a cleaner look and more reliable light source for grooming. When we’re working with you on a bathroom remodel, we carefully consider all electrical and lighting needs, and can reconfigure or add lighting to ensure that your bathroom is customized to your needs and style.
Self-cleaning toilets – not just for the futuristic Jetsons! KBIS actually featured several manufacturers with self-cleaning toilets on the market. Whether you’re ready for this step or not, there are many care and maintenance considerations that go into all of our Excel designs, such as choice and color of tile in kitchens and bathrooms. Talking with you about your everyday needs and wants for your remodeled space helps us pick the finishes, colors, and textures that best suit your lifestyle and expectations in regards to cleaning and maintenance.
